Hana's Goal Arrives For Championships
Gr3-winning Japanese mare Hana's Goal (Orewa Matteruze-Shanghai Jell, by Shanghai) has arrived at the Randwick stables of trainer John O'Shea in preparation for next month's inaugural The Championships after spending the past fortnight in quarantine in Victoria. The 5YO mare has been nominated for both the Gr1 Doncaster Mile and Gr1 Queen of the Turf Stakes as part of Racing NSW's autumn showpiece at Royal Randwick on 12 and 19 April. Racing NSW International Liaison Manager, Maurice Logue, said the dual Gr3-winning mare had travelled well: "She arrived at Randwick in great shape. She is looking really good now and is settled - I've really noticed the difference; the winter coat she had when she arrived has virtually gone and she looks a picture of health," he said. "She has been doing a bit of walking since arriving but the mare will start the serious stuff in the morning [Tuesday]. The team said they will be giving Hana's Goal a solid hit-out tomorrow [Tuesday] and again on Saturday."
