Royal Galloper Looking For First Aust Win
The Queen's horse Carlton House (Street Cry-Talented, by Bustino) is expected to appreciate a step up in distance when he contests the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m) at Rosehill on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. Trainer Gai Waterhouse has engaged the services of top Sydney jockey Nash Rawiller with the 6YO stallion allotted top-weight of 61kg. "He's not carrying too much dead weight (with Rawiller)," Waterhouse said. "But Tommy (Berry) will be back on him next time." Berry was aboard the son of Street Cry when he resumed with a ninth-placing to brilliant mare Appearance in the Expressway Stakes over an unsuitable 1200 metres. Carlton House steps up to 1900 metres on Saturday, the longest distance he has tackled since arriving in Australia and a comparable journey to the races in which he scored group wins in England, namely the Gr2 Dante Stakes over 2100m and the Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes over 2000m.
