150th Launceston Cup Hailed A Success
The Tasmanian Turf Club's 150th Launceston Cup meeting has been hailed a resounding success, with 14,000 plus patrons converging on the Mowbray track to enjoy a quality card of summer racing. The Whishaw family's Armidale Stud stallion provided a remarkable 50 per cent of the winners on yesterday's card, with deceased stallion Savoire Vivre siring four winners, including two stakes winners in the Oaks winning filly Iggimacool and the George Adams Plate winner The Cleaner, while Helike sired the 3YO Classic winner Hellova Street. In fact Armidale bred the trifecta in the 3YO Classic with Hellova Street, Havana Stash and Questmaster all born and reared at Armidale. Other winners Streetwise Savoire and Oaks winner Iggimacool were also born and reared at Armidale. Leading Tasmanian trainers Barry Campbell and David and Scott Brunton also had a day to remember, winning 6 of the 10 races between them. Campbell prepares exciting Mossman 2YO Admiral who won the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes to take his record to 4 wins from 5 starts.
