Fillies' Classic A Pointer To Spellbinder's Future

Thursday, 6th February 2014

Future plans for smart New Zealand filly Spellbinder (O'Reilly-Scenic Sprint, by Scenic) will be determined after she runs at Te Rapa on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The dual stakes-winner will be having her first start beyond a mile when she steps out in the Gr2 Cambridge Stud Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic over 2000 metres for trainer Jason Bridgman. "She's all set to go and in that field she looks like she's going to be a very warm order," said Te Akau racing manager Jeff Dore. "We'll see how she goes at the distance and we've left our options open as she's such a good athlete." Spellbinder holds nominations for the Gr1 New Zealand Derby and Gr1 New Zealand Oaks, and a forward showing on Saturday will put her right in the mix for both classics.
