Feast Of Summer Racing At 'The Bool'

Thursday, 19th December 2013

Warrnambool racecourse will host two major community race days after Christmas including the Mac's Hotel Woodford Cup Day, December 29 and the Koroit IGA Cup Day, January 5, reports warrnamboolextra.com.au. Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive officer John Green said the Mac's Hotel Woodford Cup Day was part of Racing Victoria's kids' day out program. "There'll be a number of children's activities on the course, as well as fashions on the field and musical entertainment after the last race," Green said. "Horse racing-wise it's highlighted by Macey's Bistro Woodford Cup which is the middle leg of the Star of the West bonus series." Woodford Cup day attracted 3,300 patrons last year and the club is hoping for a similar or greater turnout this year. The Koroit IGA Cup Day the following Sunday features its main race worth $40,000. "It's the third and final leg of the Star of the West bonus series," Mr Green said. "Once again we'll have kids' activities including rides, but the most interesting part of the day is we run the Shipwrecked Coast showjumping program on three days, starting Friday, January 3."
