New Approach Tops Darley Auction
Darley's first round of online auctions for a nomination to six of its stallions in Europe ended on Friday with three fetching higher prices than their advertised fees for 2014, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. The 3-day auction provided the opportunity to bid on 2014 stallion nominations for Exceed And Excel, Farhh, New Approach, Iffraaj, Reckless Abandon and Teofilo. The highest bid was for exciting young stallion New Approach, the sire of Classic winners Dawn Approach and Talent from his first crop, who reached a high of £100,000 - £20,000 higher than his advertised fee of £80,000 for 2014. Australia's reigning Champion Sire Exceed And Excel was another stallion to exceed his advertised fee when his nomination went for £45,500 - an increase on the £35,000 he is due to stand for next season. The next auction for the same roster of stallions begins on Wednesday, December 18, and will run for three days.
