Outlook Brighter For Usainity

Thursday, 21st November 2013

Talented New Zealand galloper Usainity (Zed-Day Tripper, by Bin Ajwaad) is making better progress than originally anticipated after resuming last weekend with a sub-par performance at Tauranga, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 4YO, who had not raced for five months, beat only one runner home in the open sprint and returned to scale with cuts to his legs. "He pulled a plate in the running and was pretty sore and we thought we were in trouble, but we've got the shoe back on and he should be back at the track next Monday or Tuesday," said co-trainer Andrew Forsman. "We thought he might have to miss a fair bit of work, but fortunately he's coming right a lot quicker." Usainity won three times at home last season before crossing the Tasman to claim the Gr3 Frank Packer Plate at Randwick. He then travelled north to Brisbane for the winter carnival where he finished third in the Gr3 Rough Habit Plate, before rounding out his campaign with a sixth behind top-class galloper Hawkspur in the Gr1 Queensland Derby.
