RWITC Issues Show-Cause Notice To UK Jockeys
The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) has decided to issue a show-cause notice to jockeys Martin Dwyer and Paul Mulrennan for allegedly conspiring to fix the outcome of a race run in February, 2010, reports mumbaimirror.com. RWITC stewards will also seek legal advice before sending a copy of a controversial audio CD and its transcript to each of the two jockeys. The stewards are relying on the conversation recorded on the CD, alleging it provides prima facie evidence against the two jockeys of being involved in a conspiracy to fix the outcome of the race. Indian stewards will seek an explanation from the two jockeys and also ask them to appear in person before the club's investigating officer within three weeks of receiving the notice. RWITC's chief stipendiary steward, Pradyumna Singh, who has been entrusted with the investigation of the CD, commented: "The stewards have directed me to send a copy of the CD and its transcript to the BHA for their information. I will be seeking legal opinion from the club's advisor and, if approved, will send copies of the CD and its transcript to the BHA and ask them to assist us in delivering the evidence to Dwyer and Mulrennan."
