Conservatorium Wins Gr2 Steere Stakes

At Ascot in Western Australia, multiple Gr1-winning deceased sire Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a group success when 6YO gelding Conservatorium (Royal Academy-Belong to Madam, by Belong to Me) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Gary Kennewell in the $250,000 Gr2 Steere Stakes (1400m) for 3YO+, over 5YO gelding Checkpoint (Snitzel-Kelcheck, by Keltrice) & 7YO gelding Ranger (Testa Rossa-Marrich Bay, by Old Spice). Conservatorium took his record to 8 wins (including the Listed Durbridge Stakes & Listed Manihi Classic) & 6 placings (including the Gr1 Goodwood Handicap, Gr2 QTC Cup & Gr3 AJ Scahill Stakes) from 29 starts for $678,300 earnings. Conservatorium was purchased for $40,000 by Emerald Thoroughbreds at the 2008 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale & subsequently sold for $50,000 to Kennewell Racing at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
