Waller To Face Stewards Today After Positives
Racing NSW stewards have summoned leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller to an inquiry today after "four positive tests were taken from his horses in the past couple of months to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Ibuprofen", reports thecourier.com.au. The positive tests were confirmed by Racing NSW on Wednesday following the receipt of a certificate from Chem Centre Western Australia and include the Waller trained gallopers Seuss (Gosford meeting February 14) and promising 3YO filly Jade Marauder (Rosehill February 16). Stewards further noted that 11 containers of "manufactured feed product" were taken from Waller's stable complex on March 19, 20 and 25 for independent analysis by the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory to ascertain the presence of Ibuprofen. Waller commented, "We have [been] working with stewards, once we become aware of the situation... It appears to be feed contamination and it was only one of our barns... As soon as we became aware of the problem the horses stopped racing until they were cleared by testing. I [am] confident that the feed was the problem."
