Silent Achiever Connections Brimming With Confidence

Wednesday, 24th April 2013

Meanwhile, ahead of this week's feature Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick, Gr1 New Zealand Derby winner and last season's NZ Champion 3YO Silent Achiever (O'Reilly-Winning Spree, by Zabeel) is reported to be at the top of her game according to trainer Roger James. Narrowly beaten last time out in the Gr1 BMW at Rosehill by Fiveandahalfstar, James reports that the 4YO mare has trained-on perfectly: "She's had three weeks to freshen up since the mile and a-half (2400 metres) and she will go into it a very fit mare." With champion Kiwi hoop and regular rider James McDonald out suspended, Silent Achiever will be partnered by Gr1 Doncaster Handicap-winning jockey Tommy Berry on the weekend. The mare worked extremely well at Randwick on Tuesday morning, leaving both James and Berry delighted. James added: "Tommy rode her and we're all happy. I'm not concerned about the weather either – she handles both sorts of tracks and it wasn't good for the BMW and she coped very well." Silent Achiever could also make an appearance during the Queensland winter carnival, although a decision on Brisbane has taken a back seat to more immediate matters. Explained James, "She may go up for the Doomben Cup, but we'll wait and see what happens on Saturday first."
