French Gr1 Prix Morny Star Retired

Friday, 19th April 2013

Former Champion French Juvenile Dabirsim (Hat Trick-Rumoured, by Royal Academy) has been retired, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. Trainer Christophe Ferland said, "The horse is not as well as I had hoped, so we decided with the owner that we would stop his career and send him to stud. We don't know which stud yet. Things did not go right last year. Christophe Soumillon did not get on with the horse. It's a shame he did not run again, but it is the best for the horse. He has had a foot problem. He was the best 2-year-old in Europe and he proved he can stay a mile, because he did that in the French Guineas." Purchased by owner Simon Springer at the 2010 Arqana Sale for only €30,000, Dabirsim won all of his 5 starts at 2 (including the Gr1 Prix Morny & Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere) and placed in 1 of his 2 starts as a 3YO (2nd in the Gr3 Prix de Fontainebleau over 1600m) finishing his career with earnings of €476,480. His second dam is Bright Generation (by Rainbow Quest) who won the Gr1 Oaks d'Italia and was crowned Champion 3YO filly in Italy in 1993.
