Villa Verde's Autumn Campaign Over

Tuesday, 16th April 2013

High-class 2YO filly Villa Verde (Not a Single Doubt-Young and Free, by Kenmare) will be spelled after her disappointing run in the Gr1 Sires Produce Stakes on Saturday, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Trainer Shaun Dwyer said, "I'm sure we haven't seen the best Villa Verde this preparation. Early in her prep she had a respiratory issue and a really bad allergy problem, which we treated, but we may not have really got the better of it. She may be displacing her soft palate and that could be affecting her breathing too. In the next few weeks she will have all sorts of tests, including a lung-wash and some bloods done, just to see if she has some residual effect in the lungs from the problems she had earlier on. Whatever happens she won't be racing again this preparation. We'll give her 8 to 10 weeks off and hopefully get her back in the Spring at her best."
