Leading SAf 3YO Fractures Cannon Bone

Friday, 18th January 2013

In South African racing news, it has been confirmed by trainer Sean Tarry that Gr1 Premier's Champion Stakes victor and recent Gr2 Dingaans Handicap winning 3YO The Hangman (Jallad-Helleborus Blue, by Cee's Tizzy) will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after fracturing a cannon bone at Kenilworth only days out from a planned run in the Cape Premier Yearling Sales Guineas, reports goldcircle.co.nz. Despite the injury Tarry remains circumspect, "He fractured it when he was doing a canter but I always feel that, when something like that happens, it would have happened anyway… It was just lucky that it happened when it did. If the bone had fractured during a race he could have brought down half the field. But hopefully he will be back in time to run in next year's J&B Met."
