Ruud Awakening On Track For Karaka Million

Monday, 14th January 2013

With New Zealand's richest race, the NZB Karaka Million less than 2 weeks away, exciting Bernardini juvenile filly Ruud Awakening did enough to see off her rivals in the Countdown To Karaka Million 2YO Handicap at Ellerslie over the weekend. Finishing with just under a half-length to spare over Thorn Park colt Touche & Coats Choice filly Gateway, Ruud Awakening took her record for trainer Stephen Marsh to 3 wins (including the Listed Wellesley Stakes at Wellington) & a runner-up (in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes at Counties) from just 4 outings. Ruud Awakening was a NZ$90,000 yearling at the 2012 NZB National Sale at Karaka where she was consigned by Westbury Stud.
