Leading Vet Hospital To Host Lexington Yearling Forum
One of the world's highest profile veterinary hospitals, Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, is set to host an educational sale yearlings forum in Lexington, Kentucky, on August 16. According to bloodhorse.com, "The event was scheduled following positive feedback to a similar forum on July 18 in Saratoga Springs, New York". With x-rays now forming a significant aspect of yearling sales world-wide, "an expert veterinary panel will present radiographic images of joints and endoscopic videos of throats in sales yearlings. The panel, moderated by Bart Barber, DVM, and featuring veterinarians from Rood and Riddle, will discuss different types of radiographic and throat abnormalities and their impact on sales and racing with and without surgery." Answering questions from the audience, the panel "will also review the recent changes in the conditions of sale regarding veterinary radiographic reports at public auction" providing important feedback for industry operators, particularly as "there is a significant amount of concern revolving around the changes that sales companies have made to conditions of sales".
