Acclamation Paid Up For Breeders' Cup

Wednesday, 25th July 2012

Following his dominating win in last weekend's Gr1 Eddie Read Stakes (9 furlongs) at Del Mar in California (see the video bottom right of the home page), US 2011 Champion Older Male & now 6YO entire Acclamation (Unusual Heat-Winning In Style, by Silveyville) has been paid up by connections for October's Breeders' Cup meeting. According to bloodhorse.com, "Owner Bud Johnston paid a $50,000 supplemental fee to make Acclamation eligible for the Breeders' Cup, eliminating the need for a successful title defense in the TVG Pacific Classic and the 'Win and You're In' designation to the fall championships that comes with it". The two likely Breeders' Cup options for Acclamation are to run in either the US$5 million Gr1 BC Classic (1 1/4 miles on dirt) or US$3 million Gr1 BC Turf (1 1/2 miles). Hosted this year by Anita Park in California, the Breeders' Cup features 15 championship races on November 2-3.
