US Gr1-Winner Haynesfield Retired To Airdrie

Tuesday, 13th December 2011

Brereton Jones's Airdrie Stud in Kentucky announced recently-retired US Gr1-winning 5YO millionaire stallion Haynesfield (Speightstown-Nothing Special, by Tejabo) will begin stud duty in 2012 at Airdrie "as an Airdrie Stud & WinStar Farm venture" for US$10,000. New York-bred Haynesfield (a stakes-winner each year he raced) recorded 10 wins (including the Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, Gr2 Suburban Handicap, Gr3 Discovery Handicap, Listed Empire Classic Handicap twice, Listed Count Fleet Stakes, Listed Whirlaway Stakes & Listed Damon Runyon Stakes) & 3 placings (including the Gr1 Cigar Mile Handicap & Listed Sir Keys Stakes) from 19 starts for US$1,319,481 earnings. Jones told bloodhorse.com: "This horse gave us so many reasons to pursue him, perhaps none bigger than the fact that he was the only horse to beat Blame last year & did it at equal weights on a stage as big as the Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. To have won more than half his starts & been a stakes winner at 2, 3, 4 & 5 demonstrates both the outstanding talent & soundness that we believe will make him a top stallion.
