Frankel Now Rated Best Horse In World

Thursday, 28th July 2011

Frankel “confirmed his place among the elite with his deeply impressive success in the Gr1 Sussex Stakes, improving to a Racing Post Rating of 137 which sees him rated behind only Sea The Stars (138) among the best 3YOs since RPRs began” noted racingpost.com. And “a bigger figure still could be forthcoming, particularly as we're only mid-season (in the Northern Hemisphere) & the top 3YOs would normally be expected to improve through the year. Of the elite 3YOs on RPRs only Generous (137) achieved his figure in mid-summer, with Sea The Stars, Peintre Celebre (137) & Zilzal (137) all improving through the year & posting their peak efforts in the autumn.” racingpost.com also noted: “Dominic Gardiner-Hill, the British Horseracing Authority Handicapper with responsibility for assessing the milers, has a figure of 134 or 135 in mind for Frankel, which would confirm him the best horse on the planet.” Gardiner-Hill commented: “I can't see any way Frankel won't be rated the best horse in the world after that. Before today's race he was on 130, which was the same as the Australian sprinter Black Caviar, but in terms of a published figure I think he will go up to at least 133 & quite probably 134 or 135.”
