Cape Cross Adds UK Gr3

Wednesday, 27th July 2011

In the UK overnight, former shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a group success when Irish-bred colt Namibian (Cape Cross-Disco Volante, by Sadler's Wells) notched his 2nd successive stakes win with victory by a neck in the £50,000 (A$75,000) Gr3 Gordon Stakes (12 furlongs) for 3YOs at Goodwood. Namibian (ridden by Silvestre de Sousa for trainer Mark Johnston) defeated fellow Irish-bred colts Fiorente (Monsun-Desert Bloom, by Pilsudski) & Hunter’s Light (Dubawi-Portmanteau, by Barathea). Namibian was a 60,000 guineas (A$93,000) yearling at the 2009 Tattersalls October Sale; overall he now has 3 wins (also including June’s Gr3 Queen’s Vase over 2 miles at Royal Ascot) & 3 placings (including May’s Listed Cocked Hat Stakes over 11 furlongs at Goodwood) from 10 starts for £100,129 (A$150,200) earnings.
