Unbridled's Song Adds Canada Black-Type

Tuesday, 26th July 2011

In Canada, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Unbridled's Song (Unbridled-Trolley Song, by Caro) added a black-type success when front-running 4YO mare Embur's Song (Unbridled's Song-Embur Sunshine, by Bold Ruckus) notched her 4th successive stakes-win with a 0.75-length victory in the C$183,000 Listed Ontario Matron Handicap (8.5 furlongs on all-weather) for fillies & mares at Woodbine in Toronto. Embur's Song (ridden by Patrick Husbands for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated US-bred 5YO mare Ariana D (Rock Slide-Derby Tie, by Black Tie Affair) & US-bred fellow 4YO mare Biofuel (Stormin Fever-Ms Cornstalk, by Indian Charlie). At her previous 3 starts, Embur's Song (a US$170,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) broke the track record (clocking 1min 41.6sec) in winning April's US Gr3 Doubledogdare Stakes (8.5 furlongs) at Keeneland in Kentucky & then scored a 3.5-lengths victory in May’s Canadian Gr3 Hendrie Handicap (6.5 furlongs) at Woodbine in Toronto, before winning again on July 5 in the US Listed Windward Stakes (8 furlongs) at Presque Isle Downs in Pennsylvania. Overall Embur’s Song now boasts 6 wins & 2 placings (in both 2010's Canadian Listed Bison City Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Woodbine & Listed Woodbine Oaks over 9 furlongs) from 10 starts for US$555,416 earnings.
