King Cugat Adds US Black-Type

Former Widden Stud shuttler & now South Australian Rivers End Stud-based stallion King Cugat (Kingmambo-Tricky Game, by Majestic Light) added a US black-type success when 6YO gelding Mambo Meister (King Cugat-Bleu'slittlesecret, by Desert Secret) slaughtered his rivals by an extraordinary 11-lengths in the US$50,000 Listed Primal Stakes (8.5 furlongs) at Calder in Miami. Mambo Meister (ridden by Fernando Jara for trainer Philip Gleaves) defeated 5YO entire Wingedlie (Winged Foot Willie-Outrageous Lie, by Valley Crossing) & 4YO entire Hear Ye Hear Ye (Hear No Evil-I Am Nifty, by Unbridled's Song). Mambo Meister took his record to 11 wins (also including June’s Listed Mecke Handicap over 9 furlongs at Calder, plus 2010’s Gr3 Memorial Day Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Calder & Gr3 Miami Mile Handicap over 8 furlongs at Calder, as well as 2009's Gr3 Spend A Buck Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Calder, Listed Blazing Sword Stakes over 8 furlongs at Calder & Listed Big Bubble Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Calder) & 13 placings (including May’s Gr3 Memorial Day Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Calder, plus 2010’s Gr2 Smile Sprint Handicap over 6 furlongs at Calder, Gr3 Fort Lauderdale Stakes over 8 furlongs at Gulfstream Park, Gr3 Fred Hopper Handicap over 9 furlongs at Calder & Gr3 Spend A Buck Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Calder, as well as both 2009's Gr2 Fourstardave Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Saratoga & Gr3 Miami Mile Handicap over 8 furlongs at Calder) from 37 starts for US$659,524 earnings.
