Monday, 25th July 2011

In South America, UK Gr2/Gr3-winner & dual UK/French Gr1-placed stallion Riyadian (Polish Precedent-Knight's Baroness, by Rainbow Quest) “died from a heart attack at Haras El Centauro in Peru” aged 19, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. On the track, Riyadian won the UK Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket & UK Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot, as well as finished runner-up in the UK Gr1 Dubai Champion Stakes & 3rd in the French Gr1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. UK-bred Riyadian (whose dam is an Irish Classic winner) was initially imported to Peru in 1999 by the disbanded Haras Rio Santa, before relocating to Haras El Centauro; Riyadian also stood in Chile at Haras Santa Isabel (& his star winners include Chile’s 2004 Gr1 Gran Premio Falabella winner Comando Intimo).
