Vic Prize-Money Increases From August 2012

Thursday, 21st July 2011

Meanwhile Victorian owners & trainers “can expect prize-money increases from August next year” reported The Herald-Sun. Racing Victoria chief executive Rob Hines said the prize-money increases “would first be directed to country meetings” noting: “That doesn't mean there won't be city increases as well, but the Board has agreed country is a priority.” Hines said arrangements with Tabcorp (under the new 12-year Victorian licence) “would not be finalised for some months & predicted details of stakes rises would not be announced until early next year”. But Hines summed up: “The industry will definitely be better off. I would expect an initial increase in the 1st year & then another 2 years later, when we see how it all works.” The last Victorian minimum race prize-money rises were in 2009.
