Book Full For Vinery Shuttler Congrats
US Gr2-winning Vinery Stud shuttler & last year's US Champion 1st-Season sire Congrats (A.P.Indy-Praise, by Mr Prospector) has the ‘book full’ sign up at Vinery Australia. With 54 individual winners from his initial 86 starters, Vinery announced he will cover a restricted book of around 120 mares for the Southern Hemisphere season. Commenting on the versatility of Congrats’ progeny on both turf & dirt, Vinery’s Adam White noted: “We saw very early in More Than Ready's career that his progeny were just as capable on turf or dirt. More Than Ready has shown he is a prolific sire of stakes-winners; his stakes tally is 87 at the moment & much of this is due to the fact that his progeny run as well on rain affected tracks as fast ones & are not limited to one surface or another. So in light of that, we are of course delighted to see the Congrats stock displaying the same sort of adaptability at the corresponding stage of their respective careers.” From his 1st US crop Congrats has sired 4 individual Gr1-performers (with 2 winning at Gr1 level) & White is confident local trainers will like his stock. His 2011 fee is $22,000. Meanwhile, Vinery is also preparing for the 1st locally-sired crop of US Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown (Boundary-Mien, by Nureyev) who just a few days ago topped the freshman sire list at Fasig-Tipton’s Kentucky Sale with 4 yearlings averaging US$130,000. Big Brown is standing for $27,500.
