Tuesday, 19th July 2011

On the US track, former Grand Lodge Thoroughbreds shuttler (& runner-up on the US general sires list in 2005, 2009 & 2010) Distorted Humor (Forty Niner-Danzig's Beauty, by Danzig) added a black-type success when 5YO mare Banker’s Buy (Distorted Humor-Lady Diplomat, by Silver Deputy) came from the tail of the field to score a 2.75-lengths victory in the US$58,800 Listed Reno Stakes (8 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Belmont Park in New York. Banker’s Buy (ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Nick Zito) defeated fellow 5YO mare Cody Samora (Mayakovsky-Ceil Cody, by Sky Classic) & 4YO mare Go Unbridled (Unbridled Jet-Reign Or Shine, by Majesty's Time). Banker’s Buy (a US$450,000 yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 5 wins & 7 placings (including both 2010’s Listed Nellie Bly Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park & Listed Saratoga Dew Stakes over 9 furlongs at Saratoga, plus 2009’s Listed Real Prize Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park) from 22 starts for US$244,458 earnings.
