Monday, 18th July 2011

On the Australian track over the weekend, ill-fated Gr1-winning stallion Secret Savings (Seeking The Gold-Jurisdictional, by Damascus) added a black-type success when 7YO gelding Secret Flyer (Secret Savings-Lanadee, by Snadee) scored a 1-length victory in the $100,000 weight-for-age Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Secret Flyer (ridden by Luke Nolen for trainer Mark Young) defeated 4YO mare Rue Maple (Rubiton-Maple Rose, by Canadian Silver) & 3YO filly Warm Love (Octagonal-Charangas, by Flying Spur). Secret Flyer (a $29,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Autumn Sale in Melbourne) took his record to 11 wins (also including 2009’s Listed Kensington Stakes over 1100m at Flemington) & 9 placings (including February’s Listed Hareeba Stakes over 1200m at Mornington, plus 2010’s Listed Swisse Vitamins Stakes over 1100m at Flemington & 2009’s Gr3 McEwen Stakes over 1000m at Moonee Valley) from 38 starts for $528,023 earnings.
