Monday, 18th July 2011

US Gr1-winning 8YO freshman stallion Latent Heat (Maria's Mon-True Flare, by Capote) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when juvenile daughter Softly Lit (Latent Heat-Running Creek, by Cape Town) scored by a head in the US$50,000 Listed Tippett Stakes (5.5 furlongs on turf) for 2YO fillies at Colonial Downs. Softly Lit (ridden by Sarah Rook for trainer Dane Kobiskie) defeated Putthebabiesdown (Closing Argument-Turtle Beach, by Out Of Place) & Hannah's Holiday (Kafwain-Miss HolidayInn, by Tactical Cat). Softly Lit (a US$3,200 yearling at the 2010 Keeneland September Sale) now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 4 starts for US$44,550 earnings. Her Juddmonte Farms home-bred sire Latent Heat (who stands at Woods Edge Farm in Kentucky in 2011 for US$8,500) notched 6 wins (including both the 2006 Gr1 Malibu Stakes & 2007 Gr2 San Carlos Handicap at Santa Anita) & 3 placings (including the Gr2 Santa Catalina Stakes & Gr3 Long Branch Breeders' Cup Stakes) from 12 starts for US$450,400 earnings.
