Galileo Adds Irish Black-Type

Friday, 15th July 2011

Also in Ireland overnight, former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a black-type success when 4YO mare Sense Of Purpose (Galileo-Super Gift, by Darshaan) scored by a neck in the €40,000 (A$54,000) Listed Challenge Stakes (14 furlongs) at Leopardstown. Sense Of Purpose (ridden by Pat Smullen for trainer Dermot Weld) defeated 4YO gelding Bob Le Beau (Big Bad Bob-Shine Silently, by Bering) & 6YO mare Fictional Account (Stravinsky-Romantic Venture, by Indian Ridge). Sense Of Purpose now has 3 wins & 5 placings (including June’s Gr3 Noblesse Stakes over 12 furlongs at Cork, plus 2010’s Listed Lenebane Satkes over 12 furlongs at Roscommon & UK Listed Galtres Stakes over 12 furlongs at York, as well as 2009’s Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes over 6 furlongs at The Curragh) from 13 starts.
