Thursday, 14th July 2011

US 2008 Gr1 Kentucky Derby victor & 4-time Gr1-winning Vinery Stud shuttler Big Brown (Boundary-Mien, by Nureyev) “took a major step up as a commercial sire” at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Yearling Sale by “topping the freshman list by average (among stallions with 3 or more sold) & ranking number 2 among all stallions” declared bloodhorse.com. Four of his yearlings sold for an average of US$130,000 which was “well above the sale average of US$69,890 & twice his entering-year stud fee of US$65,000”. Big Brown stood at Three Chimney’s Farm in Kentucky this year for US$40,000 & is set to begin his latest shuttle season at Vinery Australia for $27,500.
