Jerezana Wins Ramornie Handicap

Thursday, 14th July 2011

Former Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year & 11-time Gr1-winning World Champion Miler Lonhro (Octagonal-Shadea, by Straight Strike) added a black-type success (& 26th individual stakes-winner) when 4YO mare Jerezana (Lonhro-Saddler's Silk, by Barathea) came from the rear of the field to score a 1-length victory in yesterday’s $130,000 Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton in NSW. Jerezana (ridden by Andrew Gibbons for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated 6YO gelding Falco Star (Falvelon-Covetelle, by Covetous) & favoured 8YO gelding Motspur (Flying Spur-Crusading Lil, by Crusader Sword). Jerezana took her record to 5 wins & 3 runners-up (including both 2010’s Gr3 Glenlogan Park Stakes over 1350m at Doomben & Listed Crown Promenade Stakes over 1100m at Flemington) from 17 starts for $297,700 earnings.
