Redoute's Son Prince Conti Joins NZ Paxton Park

Wednesday, 13th July 2011

In New Zealand, Cambridge-based Paxton Park announced regally-bred Prince Conti (Redoute’s Choice-Grand Echezeaux, by Zabeel) has joined its roster for the upcoming breeding season. Prince Conti was bred by Peter & Philip Vela at Pencarrow Stud, but remained unraced due to injury. Paxton proprietor Henk Smith enthused: “On type & pedigree he pretty much ticks all the boxes & will offer breeders a unique opportunity. He will stand his 1st season with us at NZ$2,500+GST which will give people access to a rich pedigree at a very affordable fee.” Prince Conti is the 4th foal from Gr1 Australasian Oaks winner Grand Echezeaux (3/4-sister to 4-time Gr3-winner Romanee Conti, dam of 4-time Gr1-winner & Melbourne Cup victor Ethereal); Grand Echezeaux’s 1st foal was The Oaks Stud's 5-time Gr1-winning & 5-time Gr1-placed freshman stallion Darci Brahma (Danehill-Grand Echezeaux). And Prince Conti's half-brother Saperavi (a NZ$2.2 million yearling by Stravinsky) is also at stud after injury pre-maturely ended his career.
