Japan Foals: US$3.048m Neo Universe Colt

Wednesday, 13th July 2011

In Japan, agent Nobutaka Tada’s Globe Equine Management (acting on behalf of “a new partnership”) paid top price of ¥250 million (US$3.048m) for a colt by Neo Universe (out of Alzao mare Wind In Her Hair) during yesterday’s closing session at the 2-day Japan Racing Horse Association July Select Sale (1 day of yearlings, followed by 1 day of foals) at Northern Horse Park. The colt (consigned by Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm) is a 3/4-brother to dual Japanese Horse-Of-The-Year Deep Impact & racingpost.com noted: “While Tada did not disclose the owners' names, it was widely discussed that his long-time client Hidetoshi Yamamoto had joined with show business executive Yasushi Kubota in the foal purchase, as well as the acquisition of the top yearling (a day earlier), a filly by Deep Impact out of Horse-Of-The-Year Air Groove that set a yearling session record at ¥360million (US$4.39m). Tada did confirm: “The owners really wanted both of them.”
