Tinseltown Wins Queensland Cup

NZ Rich Hill Stud’s multiple European Gr1-winning stallion Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook, by Mill Reef) added a black-type success when top-weighted 7YO gelding Tinseltown (Pentire-Tinsel, by Father Christmas) scored a 2-lengths victory in the $150,000 Listed Queensland Cup (3200m) at Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Tinseltown (ridden by Chad Ormsby for trainer Mike Moroney) defeated fellow 7YO gelding Smoking Chimneys (Generous-Ruahine, by Kingdom Bay) & 6YO gelding Raeburn (Danehill Dancer-Portrait, by Octagonal). Tinseltown (a NZ$70,000 yearling consigned by Martindale Stud at the 2005 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) took his record to 9 wins (also including 2010’s Gr2 Counties Cup over 2100m at Pukekohe Park, plus 2009's Gr3 Rotorua Cup over 2200m at Te Aroha & 2008's Gr2 Avondale Gold Cup over 2200m) & 10 placings (including last start’s Listed Caloundra Cup over 2400m on the Queensland Sunshine Coast on July 2 & May’s Gr3 Premier’s Cup over 2200m at Doomben, plus 2010’s Gr2 Waikato Times Gold Cup over 2400m at Te Rapa, Gr3 Rotorua Cup over 2200m at Arawa Park & Listed Caloundra City Cup over 2400m on the Queensland Sunshine Coast, as well as 2009's Gr2 Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm) from 50 starts for $547,914 earnings.
