Timepiece Wins UK Gr1 Falmouth Stakes

In the UK, Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms home-bred 4YO mare Timepiece (Zamindar-Clepsydra, by Sadler's Wells) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the £160,000 (A$240,000) Gr1 Falmouth Stakes (8 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Newmarket. Timepiece (ridden by Tom Queally for trainer Sir Henry Cecil) defeated favoured US-bred 6YO mare Sahpresa (Sahm-Sorpresa, by Pleasant Tap) & 5YO mare First City (Diktat-City Maiden, by Carson City). Timepiece took her record to 6 wins (also including June’s Listed Warwickshire Oaks over 11 furlongs at Warwick, plus 2010’s Listed James Seymour Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket & Listed Sandringham Stakes over 8 furlongs at Royal Ascot, as well as 2009’s Listed Montrose Fillies’ Stakes over 8 furlongs at Newmarket) & 4 placings (including May’s Gr3 Middleton Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at York, plus 2010’s Listed Severals Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket & Listed Oaks Trial over 11.5 furlongs at Lingfield Park) from 13 starts for £212,375 (A$319,000) earnings.
