Monday, 11th July 2011

Former shuttler Kheleyf (Green Desert-Society Lady, by Mr Prospector) added a US black-type success when Irish-bred 5YO entire Sayif (Kheleyf-Sewards Folly, by Rudimentary) scored a 1-length victory in the US$75,900 Listed Battlefield Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Monmouth Park. Sayif (ridden by Channing Hill for trainer Patrick Biancone) defeated Canadian-bred 7YO gelding Yummy With Butter (Silvador-Sophisticatedbagel, by Kris S) & fellow 5YO entire Monument Hill (Royal Academy-Model Figure, by Distant View). Sayif was a 88,000 guineas (A$136,000) foal at the 2006 UK Tattersalls December Sale & later a 200,000 guineas (A$310,000) yearling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls October Sale. Overall Sayif now has 3 wins (also including 2009’s UK Gr2 Diadem Stakes over 6 furlongs at Ascot) & 5 placings (including 2008’s UK Gr1 Middle Park Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, UK Gr2 Mill Reef Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newbury, UK Gr2 Vintage Stakes over 7 furlongs at Goodwood & UK Gr2 July Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket) from 19 starts for US$346,291 earnings.
