Aust-Breds Dead Heat In Malaysia Gr1

In Malaysia yesterday, multiple Gr1-winning stallion Clangalang (Clang-Little Recruit, by Staff Sergeant) & Gr1 Golden Slipper-winning stallion Canny Lad (Bletchingly-Jesmond Lass, by Lunchtime) added Gr1 triumphs when Australian-bred 4YO gelding Eagle (Clangalang-Unbeatable, by Casual Lies) & 5YO gelding Blue Tosca (Canny Lad-Desert Bride, by Desert King) dead-heated in the MR500,000 (A$150,000) Gr1 Sprint Trophy (1400m) at Penang. Eagle (ridden by Jackson Low for trainer Thomas Gillespie) & Blue Tosca (ridden by M.Wepner for trainer Stephen Cook) defeated fellow Australian-bred 4YO gelding Good Judgement (Lonhro-Agile, by Canny Lad). Eagle (a $20,000 yearling at the 2008 Magic Millions/Tasmanian Breeders Sale & subsequently a $6,000 2YO at the 2008 Magic Millions Queensland Horses-In-Training Sale) took his record to 7 wins & 8 placings (including April’s Gr1 Selangor Cup over 1600m, January’s Gr1 Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup over 2200m at Kuala Lumpur & 2010’s Gr1 Coronation Cup over 1600m at Perak) from 24 starts). Blue Tosca (a $5,000 yearling at the 2007 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney & subsequently a $20,000 2YO at the 2007 Magic Millions Queensland Horses-In-Training Sale) took his record to 7 wins & 9 placings from 22 starts.
