Heytesbury Stud Open Day On August 14
WA’s Heytesbury Stud will hold its Annual Open Day on Sunday August 14th at 11 am. The event will coincide with Heytesbury’s 40th Anniversary as a thoroughbred stud farm. As part of the celebrations there will be stud memorabilia on display, including the 1984 Melbourne Cup won by the Heytesbury-bred & owned champion Black Knight. The parade will include resident stallions Saxon (Danehill-Jeanetta Cochrane, by Sadler’s Wells) & Husson Lightning (Hussonet-Snip Snip, by Snippets), along with samples of their progeny. Saxon has been represented by 6 1st-crop winners making him the Leading 1st-Crop Sire in WA by individual winners & stakes monies, leading sire of 2YOs in WA & equal 4th 1st-Crop Sire in Australia by individual winners. Meanwhile Husson Lightning’s oldest progeny are yearlings which have sold to $95,000. To complement the day, those in attendance will have the opportunity to win a free stallion service fee for the 2011 season to either Saxon or Husson Lightning (conditions apply).
