Unbridled's Song Adds US Black-Type

Thursday, 7th July 2011

In the US, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Unbridled's Song (Unbridled-Trolley Song, by Caro) added a black-type success when front-running 4YO mare Embur's Song (Unbridled's Song-Embur Sunshine, by Bold Ruckus) notched her 3rd successive stakes-win with victory by a nose in the US$99,000 Listed Windward Stakes (8 furlongs on all-weather) for fillies & mares at Presque Isle Downs in Pennsylvania. Favourite Embur's Song (ridden by Patrick Husbands for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated 5YO mare Zaphyra (Victory Gallop-Crystal Path, by Crystal Glitters) & fellow 4YO mare Regina Twain (Adcat-Applaud the Win, by Olympio). At her previous 2 starts, Embur's Song (a US$170,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) broke the track record (clocking 1min 41.6sec) in winning April's US Gr3 Doubledogdare Stakes (8.5 furlongs) at Keeneland in Kentucky & then scored a 3.5-lengths victory in May’s Canadian Gr3 Hendrie Handicap (6.5 furlongs) at Woodbine in Toronto. Overall Embur’s Song now boasts 5 wins & 2 placings (in both 2010's Canadian Listed Bison City Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Woodbine & Listed Woodbine Oaks over 9 furlongs) from 9 starts for US$428,816 earnings.
