Orientate Adds US Black-Type

Tuesday, 5th July 2011

Former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Orientate (Mt Livermore-Dream Team, by Cox's Ridge) added a US black-type success when 5YO mare Little Polka Dot (Orientate-Silky Oaks, by Regal Intention) gained the judge’s decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the US$100,000 Listed Louisiana Showcase Ladies Sprint Stakes (5.5 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Evangeline Downs. Little Polka Dot (ridden by Gerard Melancon for trainer Thomas Amoss) scored by a head from 4YO mare U Belong To Me (Scrimshaw-Red Cause, by Red Ransom) with a further neck to fellow 4YO mare Illusion Of Speed (Trippi-Art Of Illusion, by Forest Wildcat). Little Polka Dot took her record to 7 wins (also including May’s Listed Unbridled Sidney Stakes over 5 furlongs at Churchill Downs) & 5 placings (including 2010's Listed Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Louisiana Downs) from 16 starts for US$267,999 earnings.
