Tuesday, 5th July 2011

Multiple Gr1-winning shuttler Medaglia D'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper) added a US graded-stakes success when 5YO mare Devil By Design (Medaglia d'Oro-Beauty's Due, by Devil His Due) returned from an 8-months spell to score a 1.75-lengths victory in the US$100,000 Gr3 Chicago Handicap (7 furlongs on all-weather) for fillies & mares at Arlington Park. Devil By Design (ridden by Corey Nakatani for trainer William Mott) defeated fellow 5YO mare La Rocca (Toccet-Perfect Wave, by Boston Harbor) & 4YO mare Tidal Pool (Yankee Gentleman-Sea Rhythm, by Deputy Minister). Devil By Design (a US$160,000 weanling at the 2006 Keeneland November Sale) took her record to 6 wins (also including 2010’s Listed Lucy Scribner Stakes over 7 furlongs at Saratoga) & a runner-up from 14 starts for US$259,874 earnings.
