WinStar Sells Part Of Sidney's Candy To Argentina
Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm announced it has sold a “significant interest” in Gr1-winning 4YO entire Sidney’s Candy (Candy Ride-Fair Exchange, by Storm Cat) to Argentina’s Rubio B Stable. Sidney’s Candy (recently purchased by WinStar from the Craig Family Trust & sent to trainer Todd Pletcher) will retire from racing at the end of this season to stand in 2012 at WinStar in Kentucky & then shuttle to Ricardo Benedicto's Haras La Pasion in Argentina for the Southern Hemisphere season. Sidney's Candy currently boasts 6 wins (including 2010’s Gr1 Santa Anita Derby over 9 furlongs, Gr2 La Jolla Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Del Mar, Gr2 San Felipe Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Santa Anita, Gr2 San Vincente Stakes over 7 furlongs at Santa Anita & Gr3 Sir Beaufort Stakes over 8 furlongs at Santa Anita) & 4 runners-up (in 2011’s Gr2 American Handicap over 9 furlongs at Hollywood Park & Gr2 Mervyn Leroy Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Hollywood Park, plus 2010’s Gr2 Swaps Stakes over 9 furlongs at Hollywood Park) from 13 starts for US$953,560 earnings.
