Teaks North Wins US Gr1 United Nations Stakes

In the US, 4YO gelding Teaks North (Northern Afleet-Teaksberry Road, by High Honors) scored a half-length victory in the US$765,000 Gr1 United Nations Stakes (11 furlongs on turf) at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. Teaks North (ridden by Eddie Castro for trainer Justin Sallusto) defeated Irish-bred 6YO entire Chinchon (Marju-Jarama, by Hector Protector) who won this race last year & favoured French-bred 5YO mare Stacelita (Monsun-Soignee, by Dashing Blade). Teaks North took his record to 7 wins (also including June’s Gr3 Monmouth Stakes over 9 furlongs at Monmouth Park & February’s Gr1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap over 9 furlongs at Gulfstream Park, plus both 2010's Listed Big Brown Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Monmouth Park & Listed Restoration Stakes over 9 furlongs at Monmouth Park) & 3 placings (including 2010's Gr3 Discovery Handicap over 9 furlongs at Aqueduct & Listed Cosmic Bob Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Aqueduct) from 17 starts for US$976,964 earnings.
