Montjeu Adds UK Black-Type

Dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a UK black-type success when Irish-bred 5YO gelding Class Is Class (Montjeu-Hector's Girl, by Hector Protector) scored a 4-lengths victory in the £30,000 (A$46,000) Listed Gala Stakes (10 furlongs) at Sandown Park. Class Is Class (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Sir Michael Stoute) defeated front-running US-bred 7YO gelding Tazeez (Silver Hawk-Soiree Russe, by Nureyev) & US-bred 4YO entire Black Spirit (Black Minnaloushe-L'Extra Honor, by Hero's Honor). Class Is Class took his record to 3 wins (also including 2010’s Listed festival Stakes over 10 furlongs at Goodwood) & 5 placings (including May’s Listed Festival Stakes over 10 furlongs at Goodwood & 2010’s Gr3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at Haydock) from 14 starts for £83,338 (A$128,000) earnings.
