Darren Gauci Out "Up To 4 Months"

Monday, 4th July 2011

Victorian jockey Darren Gauci will be out of the saddle for up to 4 months, recovering from a compressed fracture to his lower back suffered when thrown through the inside rail by his mount Gothic Armageddon (who collapsed & died after the incident) at Mornington last week. Victorian Jockeys' Association chief executive Des O'Keeffe confirmed specialists at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital have “fitted a back brace to Gauci to assist the healing process” & “the prognosis is Darren's time out of the saddle will be measured in months not weeks. He will be in a back brace for a few weeks before he begins his rehabilitation.”
