UK 14YO The Tatling Wins At 170th Start

Friday, 1st July 2011

Evergreen Irish-bred 14-year-old gelding & former Royal Ascot winner The Tatling (Perugino-Aunty Eileen, by Ahonoora) “showed the fire still burns in his belly” by “charging home under jockey Hayley Turner to win on his 170th start at Yarmouth” in England overnight, reported racingpost.com. And trainer Milton Bradley declared The Tatling (who he has attempted to retire in the past) will be back in action again soon as the horse “hates not doing anything”. The Tatling took his record to 17 wins (including the 2004 Gr2 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, UK Gr3 World Trophy twice, UK Gr3 King George Stakes, UK Listed Sandown Sprint Stakes) & 52 placings (including runner-up in 3 successive UK Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes, plus France’s Gr1 Prix de L’Abbaye twice, the UK Gr2 Diadem Stakes, French Gr3 Prix De Petit Couvert, UK Gr3 King George Stakes twice, UK Gr3 Sandown Sprint Stakes, French Gr3 Prix De Saint-Georges, Irish Gr3 Flying Five, UK Listed Achilles Stakes, UK Listed Hackwwod Stakes) from 170 starts for just under £700,000 (A$1.07m) earnings.
