Redoute's Choice Tops Aust Yearling Sale Demand
Champion Arrowfield Stud sire Redoute’s Choice “was the most sought-after stallion at the major yearling sales conducted throughout Australia this year, in figures released by Arion” reported The Sydney Morning Herald. Redoute’s Choice (last year’s Australian Champion sire) “had 53 of his progeny sell in the 1st half of 2011 & was able to average a staggering $379,830 to easily win by a margin of almost $80,000”. NZ-based Zabeel “once again had a remarkable response at the sales” with his 32 yearlings changing hands for an average of $241,465. Next in line were Encosta de Lago (106 yearlings averaging $216,247) & High Chapparral (44 youngsters averaging $203,315). Lonhro (set to win this year’s Australian General Sires title when the season finishes on July 31) was the 14th most popular sire with 61 of his yearlings selling for an average of $99,261.
