Monday, 20th June 2011

Former Victorian shuttler Mr Greeley (Gone West-Long Legend, by Reviewer) added a US graded-stakes success when 4YO mare Aruna (Mr Greeley-Surya, by Unbridled) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the US$100,000 Gr3 All Along Stakes (9 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Colonial Downs in Virginia. Aruna (ridden by Ramon Dominguez for trainer Graham Motion) defeated UK-bred 4YO mare Dyna Waltz (Dynaformer-Valentine Waltz, by Be My Guest) & fellow 4YO mare Apple Charlotte (Smart Strike-Charlotte Augusta, by Chief's Crown). Aruna took her record to 5 wins (also including 2010’s Gr2 Mrs Revere Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Churchill Downs & Listed Pebbles Stakes over 8 furlongs at Belmont Park) & 3 placings (including May’s Gr2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile over 8 furlongs at Churchill Downs) from 10 starts for US$359,424 earnings.
