ARB Takes Over Hall-Of-Fame & Horse-Of-Year
The Australian Racing Board yesterday approved a proposal from Racing Victoria “to make the Australian Racing Hall-Of-Fame & Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Awards truly national events”. As part of a “staged 3-year transition commencing this year”, administration of the awards “will shift from RV to the ARB, allowing the award ceremonies to be showcased across the nation”. The ARB also announced the awards “will be conducted as stand-alone events from this year to ensure that each receives appropriate public recognition”. The 3-year transition process involves:
- In 2011-12 season: the 2011 Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Awards will be administered & conducted by RV in Melbourne on Sunday night 18 September; the Australian Racing Hall-Of-Fame induction ceremony will be conducted in Sydney in March 2012 with the ARB administering the selection process.
- In 2012-13 season: the Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Awards selection process to be administered by the ARB with the event conducted by RV in Melbourne in September 2012; the continuation of a state-by-state rotation for the Australian Racing Hall-Of-Fame induction ceremony which will be administered & run by the ARB.
- In 2013-14 season: the Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Awards selection process to be administered by the ARB with the event conducted by RV in Melbourne in September 2013 in conjunction with the Australian Racing Conference.
