Hay List "Still Battling Serious Leg Infection"
Meanwhile fellow multiple Gr1-winning sprinter Hay List “is battling to overcome the serious leg infection which prematurely ended his Brisbane winter campaign,” reported The Daily Telegraph. Trainer John McNair “remains concerned Hay List is not responding to treatment as quickly as expected” in Brisbane & “made the decision yesterday to send Hay List to his Somersby property near Gosford hoping the gelding will recover in his home environment”. McNair confirmed: “He wasn't really improving in Brisbane, so we decided it was better to get him home where he is more comfortable. He actually went backwards last Saturday & Sunday & I was pretty worried for a couple of days.” Hay List “is being treated with powerful antibiotics, but the infection in the horse's off-hind leg is proving very difficult to get rid of.” McNair noted: “The odd thing is his temperature is very good, the horse is drinking & eating normally & his blood picture is fine; but his leg is still swollen & not improving to any degree. We won't see him back racing until late Spring.”
